5 TIPS FOR A BETTER INTERIOR (LIVING ROOM)

  1. STOP USING SMALL TV FURNITURE

It makes the room feels smaller and busier. Instead use a long furniture piece. This will make the room feel bigger and more cozy.

2. LIGHT

You can’t rely solely on ceiling lights to light up your space. Ceiling lamps, especially spotlight style, will create unflattering shadows on people’s faces as it acts more as a focal light rather than diffused soft light you would want for a cozy atmosphere. Adding additional sources of light throughout the room allows you to play with the ambiance, while drawing attention to certain features.

3. CHOOSE THE POSITION OF YOUR SOFA / RUG WISELY

The position and type of sofa and rug will have a major impact on your living space. A sofa must be proportional to the space with a shape that provides a good mobility. It should not be too close or too far from the TV. To create a more cozy feel, we suggest choosing a rug that extends beyond the edges of the sofa by at least 20cm with the back of the sofa positioned outside the rug. Below you can see a example of a triangular space where we chose a sofa with rounded edges and an open end to provide a more organic flow to the room.

4. PLANTS

Plants are an easy and fun way to make your interiors look unique and cosy. They can add a pop of color in an otherwise neutral environment, and bring warmth to a space. Of course, choosing the correct indoor plants and and considering the amount of sunlight exposure they need is important when positioning them. We prefer to choose easy plants such as ficus elastica or philodendrons.

5. WHITE WALLS

White walls are known to make a room feel bigger, but there are certain things to pay attention to when trying create this effect. When working with white walls we recommend going for more sophisticated decor, as to not weigh down the space. Reason being that white walls easily contrast with other colors and too much contrast can make the room feel crowded. A good solution, if you want to keep it white, is to add a big piece of art as an elevated focal point.
